Today I finished The Help. It only took me two months. To be honest, I'm not sure why it took so long. For three days I had ten pages even left to read before the book was to be completed; today, I prevailed. And now my eyes are dry because there are no tear ducts left inside. Don't mind. At all. Next week I will be graced by the movie.
I have a few emotions going through me right now; I'm glad I finished, the ending was bittersweet and made me cry, and I'm...content. I also feel drained. Not in the horrible way when you feel like you've been working too hard for the clock to only read 11:30 in the morning; but drained in the sense that I think I've found a book that will change and shape the rest of my life.
Thank you, Kathryn Stockett. You wrote a truly wonderful book I am bound to read fifty times more before the year is out.
